Justin: You can eliminate a "cold engine" lean carb in just half a minute.. After it is running a couple minutes, SLOWLY pull the choke out while at 2/3 max throttle untill you can hear the engine start "loading down". May see some smoke puffs from exhaust also. This has RICHENED the mixture and should eliminate all that is related to fuel requirements. Still getting "backfires" would tend to NOT be related to fuel mixture problems.. be sure to readjust every few minutes by slowly moving choke out\in to maintain "rich" setting.. hope this helps.. harvey
