We have had a rabbit shortage here for more than 20 years. I and others have blamed it mostly on fescue and hay rollers. Since folks started rolling hay they have cleaned up places that use to be grown over with lots of cover for rabbits. Same with the Bob White Quail. The fescue effects the reproductive system in rabbits as well as lots of other critters. I have noticed more rabbits here at home for the last 2 or 3 years. House cats are hell on rabbits too. I still very seldom see a ground hog. I use to hunt them, and up until the early 80s they were thick as cat hair around here. Between me and my uncle across the creek we have killed 31 coyotes already this year. We are hoping to give the rabbits a chance. They are mighty good with biscuits and gravy.
