The 706 is a good tractor. I owned one and sold it to my father-in-law in 1983 and he still uses it in South Texas to mow and pull brush on his ranch. The shifting mechanize is the week point. The linkage gets a lot of play in it and makes it difficult to go from High range to reverse because of all the slop. It is fixable and not that expensive to fix. They fixed this problem on the next model the 756. There were two diferent diesels put into the 706 (also a gas option). The first years used the D282, which is the same as the Farmall 560 engine ran at a higher rpm to get more Horse Power. The later year used a German diesel that had a few more cubic inches and more HP. Both are good engines but the D282 used glow plugs and has starting problems unless you keep all the glow plugs working. Most people liked the German diesel better until they needed an overhaul. The German diesel cost about twice as much to overhaul. These tractors came with two point or three point rear attachments mounting. If it is two point you will need adapters to use three point equipment.

The draft forces are
