its sad that there is nothing left of the rock island plant. they say that 50% of all orders to other factorys was taken away as a result of farmall closeure. i seen some pictures of the old bulding and it was kinda ugly. when they shut down the quad cities was hit hard. Alot of people left town for a new life, a life without farmall. They just got to big and took too many risk. they had trouble with there six cyl. motors and if i rember correct they had gear trouble with some of the newer models. people lost confidence in i.h. plus i.h. did not expect there tractors would last so long. i.h. accepted rescue and that was a sad sad day. the reason we dont have alot of information and guy can correct me if i'm wrong case ordered paper documents destroyed. I belive it was an attempt to distant themselves from liabilitys they may have been passed down. at least there bringing back the farmall name. but we all know that the new farmall is nothing like the old ones. I wish case ih would start making a tractor just like the H and M again but with all the improvments. but keep the style of the old ones. build them out of the same type of material. I guess a part of me don't wanna let go. We had a i.h. dealer in town and it did convert to the case ih but it was closed down not to many years after the merger. the bulding is still there and it sat empty for many many years. now a farm tire place is in there. It would of been cool to tour the rock island plant. My brother went to germany all expences paid by john deere as his boss got to tour there big plant over seas. thats on thing the j.d.guys have on us there still the same john deere. Still i will always be stuck in the farmall time peroid and will countinue to add to my collection. jonnnny2006
