Nawlens : Pray tell what is timing gears slipped a few teeth but timing advance being off. I've owned about 9, 4 cylinder gas Farmalls over the past 40 years, never seen the setting of a set of points move by slipping in my lifetime. I have seen the rotation of the distributor slip. The points in my Super A, can't remember when I last had the cap off, and it mows with a woods mower probably 3-4 hours per week. The points in my 140 have been there untouched for 4 years I did put new points in my 130 when I had the distributor out last winter. I scratch my head in amazment every time I hear one of you folks going on about time saved with electronic ign. I've had enough experience with cars and trucks quitting on the road to frown on electronic ign. Never had one of my old distributor ign leave me on the road. I had the electronic ign fail on a new Oldsmobile with less than 1,000 miles on it, and had it to be towed in. I was not amused as my wife had the car, coming to pick me up 40 miles away.
