About 3 years ago an acquaintence about 1,300 miles away asked if I could find him a SMDTA, within 200-300 miles of southern ON. He was thinking $4,000. to $6,000. I found 4 and they were all in excess of his price range. They were good to fair, unrestored running tractors. My finding was gas would sell for less and in good unrestored condition, in fact I did find a gas model in his price range. Bear in mind, what I looked at were tractors that had good original paint and obviously shedded since new. Much like the vet I found SMTA tractors really took off in price since 1990. In fact I looked at a SMDTA in 1968, and could have bought it for $1,800. back then, however I decided I had better uses for money back then. That was 39 years ago, thus it wouldn't have been a great investment.
