Electronic Ignition on 806

[ View Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Return to Farmall Tractors Discussion Board ]

Posted by Ken T. on May 09, 1999 at 16:33:38:

Today I installed the Genesee Products electronic ignition on my 806. It was easy to install and the tractor runs fine (about the same as with a new set of points). There were two things that I did not like, however. 1. The wires supplied with the kit were too short. It came with 16" of wire, and I had to splice in another 16". I had to solder the splice just to make sure it would not be a problem at some future time. The kit cost $85.95 which I gladly paid, but for that price, you should get plenty of wire so you do not have to make a splice. 2. The magnetic pickup takes up a little vertical space on the distributor shaft. Because of this, the dust cap does not fit. This is no problem for me because I just use this tractor in the woods, but if someone was to use their tractor in the field, dust entering the distributor may be a problem. Anyway, now I do not have to install points again, so I am satisfied that an improvement has been made. If you are interested in purchasing this system, go the the YT home page and click on parts & supplies, then look for Genesee Products. Note: I have no affiliation with them whatsoever.
