Well, got a new battery tonight, the old one was dead which tells me the generator isn't working. Anyway, hooked up the new battery and got a slight "crank" out of the starter, but not enough to turn it over. Tried to tighten the nut on the cable that attatches to the starter and it won't tighten anymore and it won't come out. Is it stripped in the starter? Now I have the starter hanging off the tractor by the cable because that nut won't come off. Also the starter push button was very hot when I was trying the new battery. Do I need to find a new starter? What does that mean when that switch was so hot? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
