Crankshaft gear turns a idler gear, idler gear turns cam gear the one you can see in hole where you removed mag. drive. Can you roll that gear 360 degrees manualy through mag. drive hole to inspect teeth? Its not very common for a cam gear to fail on those engines. The idler gear runs on bearings that can fail. Injection pump gear drives from idler gear. You could remove cover from front of injection pump gear and see if it turns to narrow problem down, but think the hole front cover will end up being removed in the end. Injection pump may have locked up and caused a gear to fail or lots of other things. Can't remember right now if any of bolts in mag drive mounting will hit cam gear if to long like on gas engine. Like some others said you need a manual.
