BELIEVE IT OR NOT,AGE 3-1/2,STEERING OUR 300 U,WHILE MY UNCLE AND DAD LOADED THE HAY WAGON IN THE FIELD.THEY LET THE TRACTOR IDLE ALONG AS THEY WALKED ALONG SIDE,OCCASIONALY REACHING THE STEERING WHEEL TO 'HELP'ME STEER AROUND A BALE OF HAY.6 YEARS OLD,ON THE HIWAY PULLING A MANURE SPREADER WITH OUR 340 U,WHILE DAD FOLLOWED ON THE 300 AND LOADER.8 YEARS OLD, I RAN THE HAY CONDITIONER WHILE DAD MOWED AND AT 9 AND UP,ALMOST EVERYTHING UN SUPERVISED.MY YOUNGER BROTHERS CAN TELL SIMILAR AGE STORIES,THO I WAS AT THE YOUNGEST AGE TO START,AS MY UNCLE QUIT FARMING WITH MY DAD WHEN I WAS 6. WE ONCE ASKED DAD,HOW COULD HE TRUST US,LIKE THAT?HE SAID,HE COULD TELL WE RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO BE CAREFUL.WE DID NOT WORK ON FLAT LAND EITHER.WE ALL RODE ON DAD'S LAP AS SOON AS WE COULD WALK AND LEARNED HOW TO DRIVE IN THE SEAT,OBSERVING DAD AS HE DROVE.WE COULD BARELY REACH THE PEDALS,BUT DAD NEEDED US AND WE WANTED TO DRIVE TRACTORS!
