You bring No1 piston to TDC on the compression stroke. Then adjust valves 1`,2,3 & 5 and then bring No4 piston to TDC on the compression stroke and then adjust valves 4,6 7 & 8. Remember No1 piston and No1 valve are near the radiator. I think your grounding screw is touching the mag your switch should do the grounding. Hal
