Hot Tank a Touch-Control cylinder housing?

I am about to embark on my last major (hopefully) part of my 1951 Super A restoration, rebuilding the touch-control cylinder unit. I believe it must have had the orignal fluid it. It was leaking and is really nasty. I was wondering, AFTER I diassemble it, if it would be OK to take just the cast-iron housing to the machine shop and have it soaked clean in the hot tank? Will this damage anything? Thanks for any advice.
