We just finished up transplanting eggplant with our H. It too has a 2 1/2 mph 1st gear. It takes it's time at low idle and the transplanter in the ground. Your luck with transplanting will depend on the plant spacing that you are going for and the skill of your crew.

Average folks (two people per row) should be able to hit just about every pocket at 14" spacing. Mary can hit 2 out of 3 at 14" by herself. When you get down to 10", they had better be paying attention and using both hands.
