Clutch spline ?

I know I've seen the answer umpteen times before, but I can't narrow down a search to less than 1600+ possibilities, so here goes. Which way do the long splines on a clutch disc on a B go? Toward the engine, or toward the tranny? My five year-old motor job is tickin' along great, but I've bounced her on the brakes, dragged my neighbor's tractor up and down the road, even tried to uproot one of his maple trees, and still can't free the clutch. Left some pretty impressive holes and skid marks in my wake, though! ;8^) Looking up thorugh the handhole, it looks like the longer end of the clutch splines are facing to the rear toward the tranny, but I've about decided I'm going to have to split her to free her up, and just want to be sure I get her back together right. TIA.
