First, take off the dist cap, with switch off, put tractor in high gear and rock it by hand forward slightly until the points move up the dist cam to the highest, widest open gap. Then, switch on, and test for voltage (either 12V or 6V) at the coil. If no voltage at coil, disconnect the coil-dist low voltage lead and test again at the coil. If you have voltage now, you have a short in the dist connection somehow, and if not you have an "open" break somewhere between the coil and the ignition switch, including in the switch itself. Solve that, reconnect the dist-coil low voltage lead, and she'll run. If you have voltage at the coil, then, with the switch on, remove the coil wire from the dist cap only, place it near but not touching the block, and jumper across the points for only a moment and then remove the jumper. When you remove the jumper, the coil should discharge a spark against the block. If not, you may have a bad coil, or you may have too low voltage at the coil, which you can check with a voltmeter. If no spark, and voltage is ok on the primary winding of the coil, then substitute or replace the coil. If you have a spark, the coil high voltage lead was not making contact within the dist cap, or the rotor or cap were not making good contact. Clean carbon from all dist cap contacts and both ends of rotor, and try again. If a properly charged coil across the primary will not fire when the charge is interupted (as in when the points open and ground for the primary is lost) then the coil must be bad. That is the essence of the ignition system as far as spark is concerned. Good luck. Still problems, come back. RKS
