This is about the best advise I could give since I am going through the entire rear end on my H. It had an axle oil leak and has turned into a total rebuild with every bearing in the rear and trans replaced. Ok now that I have scared the heck out of you (sorry about that!)First off pull the wheel. Then clean off the axle shaft where it goes into the seal housing (4 bolts on cover). Look closely at the gap between the shaft and the housing. If the gap is close or touches at the top and is wider at the bottom, you will have bad bearings, and bad bearings make seals leak. There are two bearing per axel shaft. Ok so now if the shaft is fairly close top and bottom (gap about the same) the bearings "Might" be ok for just using once in a while or parades. If you can turn the axel by hand feel if it feels rough. A little is normal beacuse of the spider gears in the differential. If you decide to just change the seal or seal and outer bearing it can be done by taking off the 4 bolt cap. the felt and oil seal are inside the cap and will slide off the axle. The outer bearing can be taken off but might be harder to do if it was "staked in". To change the inner bearing you have to pull the PTO out and undo a bolt on the end of the axle shaft,take off all the bolts holding the axle carrier on and slide the whole works out. It is heavy! so be careful and get help. the inner bearing is held in with 4 bolts and 2 metal retainers. Let me know if you need pics or any help. My H is apart right now and can get some good shots of it, but the parts come in tomorrow (new gear) and it will be going back together by this weekend.
