3 point on my M

I've raised the 3 point all the way up and now it will not go down. Do they ever get stuck like that, or might I have the hydralics connected wrong. I put a "return line" on the cylinder to return the fluid to the resovoir when the hitch is raised, but I'm not certain that I pluged into the right spot. Had I not done something, every time I raised the hitch, fluid would shoot out of the cylinder and coat my leg. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks
