My '49 Super A's rod has a bend. At some point in the excursion of the rod, it would hit the fender if it weren't bent. It is obviously original to tractor. I don't recall if it has one bend or two. Before you cut your new rod to length, determine where it might hit the fender during its travel, and bend accordingly. The rod should not bend under normal use, and my has a coil spring integral with the rod and linkage to protect the rod (and hydraulics, presumably) from impact damage of the implement hitting something and coming up. You might be missing some of these pieces. Steve
