Looking at an IH 674

Have located a IH 674 diesel which is supposedly in excellent shape from a guy who wants $5000.00 for it. Would this be a good tractor for woods work (hauling tops and firewood) as well as upkeep around a small hobby farm? Also, what other things should I look for as far as condition is concerned, are there any known problems with this tractor, and what would be a fair price? Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
