when the battery is down, close to 20 amps makes sense. Even makes sense for a couple amps when the lights are on. What doesn't make sense is a constant 10 amps when the battery is at capacity. With the battery at capacity, the VR is supposed to kick it down. Doesn't matter about the capacity of the generator, since the VR controls the field current. Don't see any way around saying "it's gonna overcharge it." Isn't there an adjustment on that mechanical VR? It's just got to be passing current at too high a voltage barrier. good luck. RKS
