I was recently given a Farmall H that has been sitting in a fence row for the past 30 years or so. Aside from the expected layer of rust and rotted wheels, the main of the unit seems to be in fair shape. Except for the engine. Removal of the inspection plate reveals that all 4 cyliners are split, presumably from water entering via the missing muffler then freezing every year since Shep's great-grandpa was a pup. Removal of the oil pan revealed lots of sludge, with a good portion of rust everywhere. Darn. Has anybody tried replacing the original engine with something a little more readily available, say and old 4 banger out of a rusted out pickup truck or something? I have been looking for a replacement "Farmall" engine, and have found several with the exact same problem as the one I already have. Any and all suggestions appriciated.
