Brake Shaft Seals on 44 M

I am posting this for a friend with computer troubles. He can read the boards, but crashes his system if he tries to post. Please post answers here, and he will check up on it. Thanks. "I am replacing the brake shaft seals on my tractor (a 1944 Farmall M) and was wondering if a single lip seal would work instead of putting in two seals. I pulled the old ones out with the shafts still in the tractor. I know better than to try pull the shafts without taking off the gears on the other end, I have read too many horror stories about people who have tried without knowing what they
were doing and busted things up."
