I drained the oil yesterday and dropped the pan. NO SLUDGE in the bottom of the pan. I had some ring dust still but about only 5% as much as what I found at hour 7. So it sounds like the rings are pretty well seated in and the sleeve walls are smoothed down. I replaced the oil pump thinking that the ticking sound was a result of a chipped tooth. Upon examination of the 51 pump I removed, there is no visible damage. I took it apart and the teeth look excellent. I will get a gasket and stick it on the market. I will be curious if the oil pressure on this pump will be different than the original one. I am painting up about half the drawbar parts, I purchased from Biewers, today. I have some damaged pieces on the 51. Looks like the drawbar was abused a bit. I also pulled the angle cover off the top of the governor housing and permatexed it. For some reason this one likes to leak slightly. I have not had the problem on my other Hs. Oh well. Here is a near parade ready pix with the garage muffler. I will have outdoor shots later this week.
