OK, I know that I have been kicking a dead horse with all this carburetor talk about Carter, but you guys have taught me a lot since I have been back in full swing. What I found so far about Carter carburetor because you have pointed it out. The Valve Seat looked like it had a mis-shaped seat hole, Burr? Cleaned it up the best I could as the Valve Needle wouldn't mate perfectly. Also talking with you the Valve Seat does have a washer under it, and the Valve Seat was not tight, probably letting gas down through the threads. Removed the Valve Seat, carefully placed a little plumber pipe tape around the thread then secured the Valve Seat. Checked it out using your calibration method, which showed gas to about 1/2 inch from top. This would make the gas bowl about 2/3 full.
I have (3) carburetors on the bench (1) Zenith (2) Carters all disassembled, worked on, calibrated, and reassembled, all ready for the final test on the tractor.
If this doesn't work, would you do me one last thing? What would you say is the better CARBURETOR? Not planning to spend much more time on these old carburetors! Thanks, any help in this matter will be much appreciated.
