Farmall Cub Hydraulic Problem

I just bought a 1959 Cub Lo-Boy and the hydraulics aren't working correctly. When I bought the tractor, the hydraulics worked okay with the sickle bar mower attached, although the action was jerky. I removed the sickle bar and attached a fast hitch system with a pull-behind finish mower. Now, without even moving the lift lever, the hydraulics seem to be actuated (turning on and off randomly) and the hydraulics won't lift the mower. Any ideas on where the problem might be? Thanks for your help.
