It's lets the valves seat flat on the seat, so there will be less chance of a valve warping. I know a lot of people that don't let the starting valves cool on the seat. The power steering I would look for a oil by-passing a valve, or it might oil by-passing in the steering motor. Then you need to find a new steering motor or rebuild yours.
