Levy, Your H is a 1940 model. There are a couple of places on the net that list tractor serial numbers. Try these two first: http://www.sckans.edu/~alan/tractsn.html and http://www.antiquetractors.com/ There is a book that costs about $12 or so from Barnes & Noble (you can buy it online) written by Guy Fay. International Harvester Tractor Data Book covers the number series, F-series, letter series and hundred series from about 1921 through about 1959 or 1960. Well worth the money. It also shows where to look for the casting codes, tells how to interpret them and lists specifications for the tractors, s/n listings, basically everything you need to make you an "instant expert" on your tractor. :o) Another book by Guy is his Farmall Letter Series Originality Guide. Large "coffee table" sized book filled with large color photos and good explanations of what should be where for the decals and other details. With these two books and a good set of manuals you'll be able to fix anything on your tractor with only a little help from the folks on this forum. The H is a fine tractor and I know it'll give you years of good service. The usual disclaimer applies, I have no interest in these sites or books, just a satisfied (and thankful) user. Phil
