Just for interest in discussion and comments, I thought I would throw out the idea to see if anyone is interested in convertintg their regular Farmall to a Farmall Hi Clear. These conversions make a very tough looking and interesting tractor for work or show. In the late 50's and 60's we converted a number tractors to high clear using cotton picker components. Most of the tractors were converted for use as high clearance sprayers. At the time, most all commercially built high clear sprayers were flimsley machines mostly built of pipe and angle iron and powered (underpowered) by a air cooled motor. A converted M, using cotton picker rear axle housings, cotton picker bull gears, cotton picker high clearance 20" single front fork & wheel, and reversable transmission top, when equipped with fender wheel shields on all wheels, would provide a sprayer with equal clearance, much larger capacity tanks, more horsepower, much stronger machine, and almost last forever life, all at a price less than a new commerciall built Hi Boy or other brand hi clearance sprayer. We also converted a number of tractors for use in setting up and reshaping rice field leveys. These were mostly converted Farmall 400's, 450's and Farmall 560's. We would use the same cotton picker components as for the spray tractors except we would modify the wide fron axle for high clearance rather than use the single front wheel. All of these conversions are very easy to do, and would make a very good looking conversation show tractor or a excellent working tractor for applications where you need the extra clearance. The components are still fairly plentiful for M's through 560's. H's through 460's can also be converted but is next to impossable to find the cotton picker (flange type) rear axle housings to fit these tractors, as I believe the Farmall 460 was the first and only tractor in this size offered with the cotton picker housings from the factory. Just throwing out ideas for conversation or comment. Harold H
