Joe - Presuming you've got disk brakes, remove the cover/disk assemblies and check the following: 1 - Loose/broken friction mat'l on the brake disks 2 - Oil-soaked disks 3 - Worn internal splines (Find any of the above, then replace all (4) disks...) 4 - Disassemble and clean the intermediate disk ass'y. Be sure the ramps and balls are smooth - lube with a little powdered graphite. 5 - Clean (wire brush) the male splines on the differential half-shafts. Check for wear (notches) in the splines. Badly worn splines will result in erratic brake operation and binding. 6 - Lightly lube the male splines w/ Never Seez or gun grease - wipe off any excess. Also clean and lube the dogs on the intermediate plate ass'y and the mating surfaces inside the cover. 7 - Thoroughly clean all the iron braking surfaces (on the tranny, the intermediate plates and inside the cover) w/ brake cleaner - need to remove every trace of oil from these surfaces. Good luck!
