Raymond, If the oil bath is not leaking, and water has found its way in, then seein's how water is heavier than oil the oil level will be higher than it should. This can allow the carb to suck it in and burn it...it will produce white smoke. I have one that does it. The dying part is probably lack of fuel. Clean EVERYTHING up good and try it before tearing it down. Good Luck,
