After I added an inline filter to mine, I went through several of them real quick. After a while, most of the junk worked it's way out and I havn't changed it in 25-30 hours. The filter I am using now is about an inch in diameter, but for a while I was using ones that were about 2 inches in diameter, as they did not clog up as quickly. Also, is the screen in the sediment bowl in good condition? A distorted one would let bigger stuff get by, a problem I had as well. The inline filter would clog up and the sediment bowl wouldn't be all that full. I replaced the sediment bowl screen, and the bowl started filling up with crud quickly, but the inline filter lasted longer. There can only be so much rust in the tank (one would think!). Eventually, most of it should run out and the problem should go away. I try to keep the tank fairly full and add a little bit of gas-line antifreeze once in a while to keep the moisture down so that more rust won't form. Still have no idea about the white smoke, any chance that the float or needle valve is sticking? If you shut the tractor down, does significant amounts of gas leak out the carb? (My does a little, but that is why they put shutoffs on the gas tank) If it is water, the coolant level would have to drop. let us know what you eventually find.
