felt oil seals

Is there anything special to do when installing
new felt seals? I'm doing a brake job on my F-20
and I'm replacing the wheel seals and countershaft
seals. I figure they should be soaked in oil and
the inner lip greased, but is there anything else
I should do to make them live longer and not leak?
replacing them with modern oil seals is not feasable.
