John, it sounds like you will have to get the starter rebuilt. Sounds like the brushes are shot. They get to turning terribly slow in that situation. Swap your battery cables. Should be positive ground. To fill oil. While standing on the distributor side, look right of the distributor and you should see a 3 inch cap with 2 big ears on the timing cover, just above the base of the distributor assembly. Stick your oil in there. As I mentioned before on the control panel, the rotary handle runs the radiator shutters if they are still there. Get fresh gas. If the smoke is black, then you are too rich. If its blue, the rings are shot. The big dial on the light switch box is the low charge, high charge, dim lights bright lights. THIS IS NOT AN IGNITION SWITCH. There should be a separate ignition switch on the control panel or possibly mounted on one of the holes on the liftall lever base. Hope this helps. I left my email. Just highlight my name.
