If you stall the motor, it will definitely generate more heat on 12V than on 6V, but you are much less likely to stall on 12V. I know my "B" would barely turn over on 6V, mostly due to dirty connections, but on 12V it really zings. The point is that on 12V, the starter is running much farther away from the stalled (not turning) condition, pulling fewer amps. I probably misstated when I said half the amps, but it should be much less than on 6V.
