My starter switch on my 45H begun shooting sparks recently. Since all the wiring is less than 9 years old, and I noticed in my logs I never replaced the switch, I decided to take it apart. Very easy. Just stick the neck in a vice and turn up the 4 tabs. The base came off easily and I had a bunch of dirt and corrosion. I took out the 4 pieces of carboard which sit around the stationary posts and gave it a good wirebrushing until they shined. On the retractrable copper wedge, I took a file and filed them until smooth. It was apparent that one wedge was doing more of the work than the other. Blew everything out and put it back together. No more sparkler show. Eventually I will have to trod down to NAPA. The base posts are a little rough.
