Hugh, Remember that the water pump will be pulling the hot water out of the block and pushing it into the top of the radiator. That's where the hottest water in the system will always be. Do like LTF said and use a thermometer after running it for at least 20 min. Temp should be 190 degrees or so. If it's much more than that, start looking for the problem to see if the tractor can be fixed easily. If the problem's not bad, deduct $100 from your offer. If it needs a new radiator deduct $350. I think you get the idea. Phil
