David I am sure KBBob is right that special puller is correct way to remove impulse coupler. However I often have to improvise. I removed one from M magneto this morning by spraying with penatrating oil turning nut out a couple of turns and lightly tapping nut with hammer while gently prying up on coupler. It came right off. The key words are LIGHTLY and GENTLY as you can easily damage magneto.
