Hi Terry, Where are you located. I'm in St. Maries, about 50 miles south of Coeur d'Alene. The suffix letters you asked about are D= 5000 ft. altitude; S= Ta w/provison for 540 indepentent pto; and finally J= Rockford clutch. You need to pick up a copy of Guy Fays "International Harvester Tractor Data Book" This has all the codes, dates, and info on all the tractors up to the 600
