On the IH 86 series tractor there is a muffler under the hood with the inlet and outlet on the same side of the muffler, basically right beside each other. One of two things happens with that muffler, it either gets hot and burns paint off the hood, or rusts out and costs over $200 to replace. Thomure manufacturing designed a U-shaped tube that fits where the muffler was with NO modifications to anything else for around $75 when we bought ours. They claim 15 to 20 percent more power and fuel hours. We DID gain HP and hours on a gallon of fuel, but don't know exactly how much. Fabricating a pipe that is 4" in diameter or more to fit perfectly is rather difficult. The Thomure pipe is several pieces cut and electronically welded together. ALSO, the way the muffler fits is more than just a couple of exhaust clamps, it is a tapered pipe that wedges in there to seal up. I'll post more on this when I get home this weekend. HTH Steven
