It all depends. I have bought 3 tractors that weren't running but not stuck. You take a lot of chances, but so far I haven't gotten burned. Where I am, even a complete non-running tractor will run $750 or so depending on the model. So far the best buy I have made was on a John Deere M for $750 that only needed to have the points filed to get it running and it really runs well. I bought a Cub that gave me fits trying to get running but I finally did. After all the smoke had cleared, I think I had $400 or so in it and it is still working. I bought it and a trailer load of implements for $750. Sold the implements for $700 and spent another $350 or so making it run and fixing minor things. Then there's my Albatross Super H that I paid $950 in relatively rough shape. I returned to pick it up and the owner wanted to but it back because someone wanted it real bad. I have over $1500 in and it is nowhere near being done the way I want it. I have spent close to $3000 for the lot but I have had more fun than you can imagine. I would try to get him down another $200 or so. The single front is unique, but other than that it is nothing special. Good luck!!
