Well, about 18-20 yrs. ago I was farming with a '53 Super M and it always started for me in these Michigan winters with a 6 volt system and distributor ignition. Now two of my hobby tractors are John Deeres with magneto ignition, the old two-bangers with 12 volt systems and they always start here in Michigan. The M Farmall is under reconstruction now so it's inelgible. But the secret seems to be a thing called maintenance. Good maintenance seems to work on most tractors regardless of ignition source or electrical system voltage. Keep 'em in tune with good batteries and you've got a chance
