Jett, If you are getting a pop back through the carb. Such as a backfiring type pop, I would try a compression check. It sounds to me like a stuck valve. If you have or had the valve cover off you would see as you turn engine over which valve it might be by the extra clearance as the tappet releases the valve back to seat. If a lot of clearance is present thats your problem. It destroys the fuel mixture and exits the carb, by way of valve leakage. Usually spraying some WD-40 on stem from top side and helping with a heavy screwdriver, putting pressure on spring to help it close you can get it seating again. I know it's work but I've done it many times. Good luck.
