In 51 somebody realized the U and V would be tough to tell apart so they discontinued U, skipped V, and started using W all in 51.
Farmall - The Third Generation, by D Darst has this and much more good info. I saw it advertised a while back in Red Power. It's probably in some other books too by now. Standard disclaimer.
