The question of fast hitch versus 3 point hitch is a good one. I beleive that it's too bad what you suggest didn't happen. My experience as a farmer, is that I beleive the fast hitch is excellent for the smaller tractor (under 40 hp) I currently have a Farmall 130 and a Super A with fast hitch. My brother has a 230 with fast hitch. Those three work great. When I was farming I had a Farmall 300 and a 560D with fast hitch. The problem with using the fast hitch as a drawbar on trailers, balers, forage harvesters, etc. on the larger tractors, is they wear the side draft linkage bad. It gets to the point you may as well pull the implement with a chain. It's a problem with all fast hitch but especially with the big ones. In reality what we have on larger tractors today is combination of both. Lower link senceing and the telescoping lower link both come from the fast hitch. The other benefit was not hitch at all but rather in the early to mid sixties all American Row Crop Tractors adopted Harry Ferguson's idea of placing the operator platform ahead a foot and a half, thus allowing either hitch room to lift implements high enough. I beleive Deere had that done before 1960 ie.(630, 730 etc.) No, of course it's not a colour war, I have seen features I like on every system out there. Too bad patent laws don't have a co-operation clause.
