Just a thought: I have done this with loose sleeves. When everything was clean and ready for me to drop the new sleeve in the loose hole, I rubbed a light film of fine valve grinding compound on the outer surface of the sleeve. One 460 gas that I did this to has been running for 25 years without a problem.
