I am going down that same road myself. So far I have determined that most of the hydraulic/transmission fluids out there are compatible (example HyTran and MF's Permatran III, it usually says so on the label). I have been using the house brand from the local Co-Op, I can't recall what the price difference was but I do know that a gallon jug of Permatran III is just under $10 (my MF 175 takes 8 gals!)

I too would like to hear from others with experience here. For now I assume that it is like with motor oil, the cheap stuff (if it meets the same standards) works just as well but break down quicker so you change it more frequently. Someone please tell me if I'm wrong here...Bob
