RR, A person by the name of John Burroughs received title from the US Govt. on 160 acres. He entered on this plot of land in 1832. He then sold the first 40 acres, where the farmhouse, barn, etc. are located, to my Great Great Grandpa Jonas H. Johnson in February, 1854. Later on Mr. Burroughs sold an additional 80 acres to GGGP Johnson. When GGGP Jonas Johnson died in 1888, he had acquired 230 acres in 3 sections. There was a huge court battle over what land each of the 13 kids and the wife would get. My mom said most of the family was a bunch of drunks from folklore tales. Most of them died in the flu epidemic of 1918.
