steve, the reason I brought this up about the pully. As I was pulling it off, at first the sleeve began seperating from the pully, for about half an inch or so, then the sleeve let loose of the crank and pulled the rest way off. So what I have now is a pully with this sleeve sticking out part way. The service manual refers to a wear sleeve that is to be installed when putting the pully on. the manual is sufficiantly vague. my concern is still that here is no indication of how the sleeve is to be oriented relative to the bearing, this will have an effect on timing, as the timing marks must line up off the pully and timing cover marks. I could line everything up first, then put this sleeve on last, so that it lines up with the cover correctly. on another note, the crank journals measure to within .001 of the original specs, are not out of round, nor tapered. So far so good. thanks for all the info.
