For the price of the parts to do a top end overhaul, you could probably spend just a little bit more and get a complete engine rebuild kit and do a complete overhaul,replacing the main and connecting rods would not hurt if they are original.And if your going to go that far you should definitly check out the clutch componets,if you overhaul the engine you will already be right at these parts after the engine is removed.I have an "a" also that I bought to restore,The engine needs rebuilt so I am going to replace the clutch pressure plate and through-out bearing even if they look ok.its always good to play it safe. good luck, Jonathan Mirgon
