Ever wonder why an Amish farmer makes money on a 20-40 acre farm when modern farmers go broke on a 4000 acre farm. OVERCAPALATION. (spelling). Why do you need a $100,000 tractor to do what a $10,000 tractor does. Amish farmers also grow what they can sell or use. Don't depend on Government subsudies to make a go of it. Most people around here are caw/calf operators. They sell their calves in the fall to pay off the bankers then barrel operateing expenses to live off of until next fall. Never ending cycle until a bad winter or draut. Then it ends. You can make a go of farming if you stay away from banks and government.
